Lighthouse Club Young Members Group - Central Police Station Site Visit

Representatives from Aspect Asia attended a site visit at the redevelopment of the Central Police Station in Hong Kong on 12 April 2016 with the Lighthouse Young Members Group.

The development, known as Tai Kwun, which in Chinese means ‘big station’, promises to bring culture and leisure experiences for all to enjoy. Scheduled to open in late 2016, Tai Kwun is situated in the former Central Police Station compound which is bordered on three sides by Old Bailey Street, Hollywood Road and Arbuthnot Road. Chancery Lane runs along the southern prison wall and includes 3 declared monuments being the former Central Police Station, the Central Magistracy and the Victoria Prison. The redevelopment is considered to be one of the most significant revitalisation projects in Hong Kong.

A partnership between the Hong Kong Jockey Club and the Hong Kong SAR Government, the Central Police Station Revitalisation Project is an important initiative to conserve and revitalise the heritage site for adaptive reuse. The Project includes the conservation of 16 buildings of historical or architectural significance and several open spaces on the 3.37-acre site.
