HK$3.142 Billion Sewage Plant Contract Awarded
On 27 May 2016 Drainage Services Department (DSD) awarded a Design, Build and Operate (DBO) contract valued at approximately HK$3.142 billion to ATAL-Degremont-China Harbour Joint Venture (ADCH-JV) for the San Wai Sewage Treatment Upgrading Works – Phase 1 on 27 May 2016.
Following the planned completion of the construction works in late 2020, ADCH-JV will operate the works for a further period of 15 years.
The project involves the design and construction of sewage treatment facilities with a treatment capacity of 200,000 cubic metres per day. The project is required to cater for the projected additional sewage flow resulting from developments in the North-West New Territories after 2020.
The San Wai Sewage Treatment upgrade will implement sedimentation technology which will provide improved efficiency over traditional clarifiers, whilst the reduction in space required for the plant will save approximately 40% in terms of land use.
The works will provide an upgrade to the chemically enhanced primary treatment level through ultraviolet disinfection facilities which is intended to reduce pollution to the North-West waters.
