Property Greening Guide Set
A guide for property owners and the public is being drawn up by the Buildings Department in relation to the common greening works of buildings in Hong Kong, Paul Chan – Secretary for Development says.
Mr. Chan told lawmakers on 15 June 2016 that private building owners are responsible for the maintenance and continued inspection of their properties, including any greening facilities.
The greened roof collapse incident that occurred at City University last month has prompted the department into action and they are now looking into any roof greening area in Hong Kong that might have been constructed without the necessary evaluation being conducted by building professionals.
Any cases found to be non-compliant will be subject to immediate action by the department.
Additionally, the department has also issued a circular to the construction industry reminding all practitioners of the requirements of the existing provisions of the Buildings Ordinance that have to be adhered to.
