Trade and Industry Tower
Trade and Industry Tower is situated at the northern part of the ex-airport apron in the Kai Tak Development Area (KTDA). It comprises a government offices building, which accommodates ten government departments including the Trade and Industry Department, the Highways Department and the Census and Statistics Department, together with a community hall.
In keeping with the “Green City” concept of the KTDA, heavy emphasis was placed on energy conservation and greening. A series of renewable energy technologies, including a photovoltaic system, solar hot water system, solar chimney and daylight sun tubes were incorporated into the design. In addition to landscaping on the ground floor, the covered elevated walkway and the main roof, the project also features vertical greening on building façades. Overall greening accounts for more than 30% of the total site area. In terms of recycling and other environmental features, the project uses rainwater for landscape irrigation and adopts an automatic refuse collection system and uses low-emitting materials where appropriate.
Aspect Asia’s Client was appointed by the Main Contractor under a sub-contract to undertake the fabrication and installation of the curtain walling system to the entire building envelope.
