Museum of Modern Art

Project Background

The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) is an art museum located in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, on 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. It has been important in developing and collecting modernist art and is often identified as the most influential museum of modern art in the world. It is also one of the largest.

The Museum's collection offers an overview of modern and contemporary art, including works of architecture and design, drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography, prints, illustrated books and artist's books, film and electronic media. The Library's holdings include approximately 300,000 books and exhibition catalogues, over 1,000 periodical titles, and over 40,000 files about individual artists and groups. The Museum’s archives hold primary source material related to the history of modern and contemporary art.

Gartner USA was contracted to supply and install the curtain walling, skylights, storefronts and entrances for the renovation works to the Museum. The renovation project doubled the space in the Museum for exhibitions and features 630,000 square feet of new and redesigned space.

Aspect Asia’s Involvement

During the project Aspect Asia’s client was affected by a number of events that impacted on the regular progress of the work causing delay and disruption. Accordingly, Aspect Asia was appointed to prepare claims in relation to compensable extensions of time and the reimbursement of associated delay and disruption costs.

Aspect Asia assisted Gartner by preparing a suite of robust and persuasive claims which resulted in successful recovery of significant additional costs.
