Nick Adams is a Director of Aspect Asia and specialises in the preparation, defence and management of contractual claims, and the provision of Expert quantum advice, reports and evidence for litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation proceedings.
Nick has over 36 years experience in the Quantity Surveying sector of the Construction Industry and has worked extensively in UK, South East Asia and Far East. Nick has been based in Hong Kong since 2001, and is a permanent resident of the HKSAR.
He has been appointed as Quantum Expert on numerous occasions including referrals to mediation, arbitration, adjudication and litigation, and has provided Expert Witness evidence on a number of disputes.
Nick is widely experienced in the preparation, submission and negotiation of claims and counter-claims relating to extensions of time and prolongation and disruption costs.
Nick is an approved Dispute Resolution Advisor (DRAd) under the list maintained by the Joint Management Committee of the Architectural Services Department and is an approved Dispute Avoidance and Resolution Advisor (DARA) under the Hong Kong Housing Authority list for Capital Works/New Works contracts and has been appointed as a DRAd/DARA.
Joanne Chew is a Senior Project Consultant with Aspect Asia based in Hong Kong. She is both a Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) and an Associate Member of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AAIQS).
With over 15 years quantity surveying experience in the construction industry, Joanne has worked on major construction projects in Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Australia. Joanne’s broad experience across Asia Pacific means that she is particularly adept at liaising with industry representatives from different cultural and professional backgrounds.
Joanne's experience extends to both pre and post contract commercial roles including significant exposure to quantity surveying, cost planning, estimating, tendering and procurement, contract and commercial administration and the preparation, defence and management of claims for time and costs. Joanne is fluent in English, Cantonese and Malay.
Johnny Chao is a Senior Consultant in Aspect Asia’s Hong Kong Office and has over 30 years experience of working on major construction projects in Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, Dubai and UK.
Johnny is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and is Member of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. Johnny is also a Registered Professional Surveyor with the Surveyors Registration Board in Hong Kong.
Johnny has full pre and post-contract Quantity Surveying experience which extends to pre-tender estimating, preparing tender documents and Bills of Quantities, preparing and valuing variations, preparing interim payments/certification, preparing claims for EOT and prolongation costs and preparing, negotiating and settling of final accounts on major construction projects.
Johnny’s experience also extends to project management and contract management on both building and civil engineering projects.
He also has experience of formal dispute resolution proceedings including preparing statements of claim and quantum analyses for arbitration proceedings.
Johnny is fluent in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Jeff To is a Senior Consultant in Aspect Asia’s Hong Kong Office and has over 34 years experience of both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying duties in Hong Kong, PRC and Middle East. He is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and a Fellow of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors. Jeff’s experience covers a broad range of projects including civil engineering, infrastructure, water treatment works, pumping stations, highways, commercial, residential, industrial and railway/station projects.
Jeff has extensive experience in contract administration, claims analysis, defence and management, preparation of formal reports in respect of quantum assessments, establishing and managing financial budgets and the preparation of cost reports.
Jeff has undertaken the preparation of pre-tender estimates, tender documentation and the preparation and processing of payment applications including the negotiation and settlement of final accounts.
Jeff also has considerable experience in cost monitoring and cost control procedures and in the preparation of related reports including project cash-flow forecasts/reports.
Jeff's contractual claims experience extends to the assessment, defence and management of Contractor’s quantum submissions including claims for variations and for additional costs arising from delay to and disruption of the progress of the works.
Jeff is fluent in written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Geoff Mann is a senior Planning and Delay Analyst with extensive experience in contractual advice, claims preparation, forensic programming and planning and dealing with contentious and non-contentious contractual matters.
Geoff has been continuously employed in the building, construction, civil and mechanical engineering industry for over 45 years including 30 years in Contracts and Commercial Management positions with Major Contractors.
Geoff has over 15 years consultancy experience representing Employers and Contractors. Geoff has worked in various jurisdictions including Europe, North America, Middle East, East Africa, Russia and East Asia, including 20 years in Hong Kong. Geoff also has hands-on and management experience of estimating, quantity surveying, planning, programming, procurement, commercial management and dispute resolution work.
Geoff is experienced in various dispute resolution forums including litigation, arbitration and mediation which includes appointments as an Expert Witness (Planning and Quantum) and as an Arbitrator.
Dennis Kavanagh is a Senior Consultant with Aspect Asia, with extensive industry experience in post-contract commercial and contractual support and dispute resolution. Dennis is also experienced in providing assistance to appointed Quantum Experts on disputes referred to arbitration, adjudication, mediation and litigation.
Dennis has been extensively involved in claims preparation, defence and management on major civils, building, transport and water utilities projects.
Dennis has been involved in long-term secondment assignments providing commercial/contractual advice and contract management support to a broad spectrum of Clients in a variety of geographical locations including Hong Kong, UK, USA, Egypt and Germany.
Christie Chung is a Certified Public Accountant and is qualified in both Hong Kong and Australia. Christie is responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative functions of the Company.
Christie’s role encompasses all aspects of management accounting including financial planning and budgeting as well as the preparation of financial statements and monthly Management Accounts.
Christie has extensive professional experience in the accounting, taxation and commercial field. She worked for Tricor Services Ltd/PricewaterhouseCoopers undertaking accounting, taxation and auditing functions for a wide range of clients.
Sandra Shin has worked in the field of business administration for many years. Sandra’s efficient administrative and secretarial skills have been developed in both Australia and Hong Kong working in both large corporates and smaller private companies.
Sandra obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Australia and worked in Australia for several years before returning to Hong Kong.
Sandra is an effective trilingual communicator (English, Cantonese and Mandarin) and provides dedicated and reliable support to our team and to our clients.
